God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

@Clem

Did you know he was "one of us" ha ha

he said: "this is not a simple matter with a simple solution because we’re talking about the “me” that has to be managed."

@vic Frankl's "me"

u mean he was a procrastinator?! wow. i did not know that. Altho having to manage the "me"--i had not heard that one from him, but i can see that coming from him, and i agree with it.

Hypatia's check-in

I'm doing fine when I've got something scheduled.  I even coped with seeing a new client this morning that I'd been worrying about because it's a new area of work for me.  But now I'm sitting at my desk for the rest of Friday afternoon I'm having great trouble getting started.

Plan

  • P's notes to secretary
  • email secs re open access
  • in-tray
  • verification
  • outlook e-mails
  • one item off old pile
  • ring ICU
  • webmail
  • show DVD to M
  • write up today's notes
  • check out template for reflective practice
  • ring IT

Progress, not perfection.
Consistency over emergencies.
Do the thing that feels healthy, not "shouldy" or escapist.

clement ci - day 70 attempting abstinence

8:08am : Last night ended badly. I notice that i did not check-in after my long day filled with external structure. Learning : check-in. God pls bring this to mind when necessary.

I have 2 kinds of distraction. 1 happened to me today, and it is my mind wondering and i hardly am even aware of it. 2 is when i make choices i know are bad.

:) ci
:) quiet time
:) r task
:) s task
:) financial aid
:) prep client, pack (forgot my usb. i made due)
:) client

9:27am : i got carried away with my bible study. 1hr 19min. Should have only been 20. New Beginning right now ( ironically from the God of that same bible ;)

1:03am : client went well. took a long time. but was completely successful. I prayed a lot. before and during. The Lord is faithful. I give him the Glory.

And now i have to prevent "taking a drink" (impulsively going off plan).

15 points for an alcoholic to consider when confronted with the urge to take a drink at url http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/images/dynamicImages/documents/documents_4_834303.pdf

5. Develop and rehearse a daily plan of thinking and acting by which you will live that day without taking a drink, regardless of what may upset you or how hard the old urge for a drink may hit you.

Ok when i have the urge, i will look up an item on this "15 points" list and post on the website the urge, first, and hope that will help.
