Any check in Telephone Meetings Pacific Time? Later in Day

Hi everyone!

I joined last night; not to use the forums reularly (computer time is a procrastinating time suck for me) but as this was the ony way that I could post a query:

I am VERY interested in CHECK IN TELEPHONE meetings, but I am on the West Coast. I need them later in the day and into the evening maybe, Pacific Time. On the home page I only see some veeery early in the morning!

Are there other meetings throughout the day, that are not mentioned on the home page? Or any 24/7 phone number at which people check in at randomly at top of the hour or half hour?

Thank you so much for any help!!

re: telephone check-ins later in day

The Mon-Fri 15-minute check-in meetings,
are actual MEETINGS that last only 15 minutes,
as follows:

Opening with a 12step prayer,
leader reads aloud a scripted brief guide to sharing,
a topic is chosen,
each person shares on topic for between 1-3 minutes,
(depending on how many people are there)
and then commitments may be made for rest of day,
then a closing 12step prayer.
At the end, people stay on the line for one minute -
so as to arrange to bookend with one another during rest of day.
(The order of the above elements may differ --
depending on which of the 3 daily meetings you attend --
but the basic concepts remain).

All of the above is done in 15 minutes,
and it's very powerful.

The same phone number and access code
is available for simple check-ins at any time.

Here is how that works:

People usually arrange at the end of morning meetings
to check in with one another later in the day.

Often there are check-ins at half past every hour (Mon-Fri).
(Not half-past every hour, but at half-past many of the hours.)

Note that you have a better chance of finding someone if you pre-arrange at the morning meeting.

However, people *do* "randomly" call in at half past every hour (Mon-Fri),
just to see if someone else also decided to call in without pre-arranging.
There is often at least one or two people on these
"quick check-in calls at half-past the hour".

So you can take a chance and dial in at half-past-some-hour
-- in hopes that someone will be there.

NOTE:  These check-in calls are not meetings.
They last a maximum of 3-5 minutes.

First person says: "Hi, my name is ___ and I did this task, I got stuck on this other task, and next I'm going to do this."
Second person follows same format.
Etc., etc., until each person has stated their check-in,
and then people sometimes state the next time they will phone in.
Then everyone hangs up and gets to work.

This is all very QUICK.
To do a theoretical example:
If you dial in at 2:29pm or 2:30pm --
you will find the 2:30 check-in (if people choose to dial in at that time).
But if you dial in at 2:35pm, you will probably be too late because they'll already be done.

Regarding weekends:
There are currently no regular check-ins on the weekends.
However, you can pre-arrange with someone to meet with you
on the same check-in phone line.

Note that there is a one-hour meeting Sundays
beginning at 8:30pm Eastern or 5:30pm Pacific.
So please don't try to use the check-in line during that time.
Otherwise, check-in line is available most weekends.

Please note also that this check-in phoneline is a 12step phoneline for PA.
As used for the 15-min meeting and for the quick check-ins,
the concept is this:

The hope is to follow 12step principles (although perhaps imperfectly).
We don't give feedback on shares or on quick check-ins.
We just listen respectfully to whoever's turn it is to speak.
The "PA phonebridge" doesn't endorse any religious or political doctrines
or commercial enterprises.
(Although each person is welcome to have their own spiritual beliefs.)
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop compulsively procrastinating.

Thanks once again

Thanks for posting this here for me, as well as where I asked in the introduction area. Wasn't sure where to post it. Hopefully this will help others, too. I can't believe that all the procrastinators out there get up at 5:30 a.m. Pacific time; there must be more of us who sleep in, haha!

Thanks again.

@Eliz re: morning phonebridge -- additional times you didn't see

Eliz,

I see you mentioned only one meeting per day. You must've missed the others.

The latest meeting list is on the meeting list button at upper left corner of any PA webpage.

You'll note that there are 15-minute meetings at
THREE times on Mon-Fri mornings.

7:30am eastern
(which is 4:30am Pacific)

AND

8:30am Eastern
(which is 5:30am Pacific)

AND

11:00am Eastern
(which is 8:00am Pacific).

The first two meetings are pretty solidly attended.

The third one (11eastern or 8pacific)
is more sparsely attended, but keep trying and you'll find someone there.
