Online Meeting Anchor Sign-Ups! Feb-April 2012
Sign up here to be "anchor of the day" for our PA chatbox 12-Step meeting.
Meeting time: Sundays 19:30 (7:30pm) UTC/GMC tandard Time year-round.
Our meeting stays on standard time year-round. So it will appear to shift off by an hour if your local clocks change seasonally.
Time Change Details:
USA: For the parts of the USA that keep daylight saving time, the meeting time CHANGES in March as follows:
Sundays 2:30pm New York STANDARD Time (Eastern Time Zone) through Sunday March 4, 2012
switches to
Sundays 3:30pm New York DAYLIGHT Time beginning Sunday March 11, 2012Europe: Meeting time will change on 25 March 2012.
Parts of Australia/NewZealand: Meeting time will change on 1st April 2012.
Confused? Don't worry.
There is a link on each date of our calendar below, telling you when the meeting is in your time zone on each specific date. Just find the day you wish to attend, and then click on the timezone link on that date.

What is a "Meeting Anchor"?
The "anchor of the day" shows up on time and makes sure the meeting gets started. The anchor doesn't have to lead the meeting. You just need to show up and then direct whoever wishes to lead on where to find the format.
It doesn't happen often, but sometimes you arrive and find yourself alone. If this is the case, you start the meeting and keep going, pasting in the format by yourself, talking to your own version of 'higherpower'. Starting meetings on time is part of our recovery. Procrastinators are often latecomers, so you know that other PA members will arrive soon and you won't be alone. If you build it, they will come.
We decided in the PA business meeting that the same person doesn't have to anchor each week. Hence a sign-up sheet. This is where to sign up if you would like to anchor. Just reply to the post for the week you want to anchor (and remember to do it!!!).
If you are new to PA, you too can anchor! All you need to do is to show up on time and make sure the meeting happens.

and I can lead the first half of the meeting - which is coordinating the readings, posting announcements, and beginning the sharing.
We'll need someone else to volunteer to take over from me -- to lead the rest of the meeting which is sharing plus closing. That person could sign up here, or they could volunteer on the spot during the meeting.

Hi and apologies to all who were in post-meeting chat, earlier today, when I abruptly disappeared. My computer caught some sort of nasty virus that abruptly kicked me out of my browser window and wouldn't let me back in.

so you're not obligated to lead the entire meeting!
Hopefully someone will arrive at start of meeting
or during the meeting --
someone to whom you can pass the baton of conductorship?
(to mix metaphors of relay-racing and music).
Feel free to suggest this to the meeting participants!
I cannot be there these next few weeks,

Glad you will be at the online meeting this week. May I offer to lead this time? then maybe when you have a chance to see how it runs or ask any questions, it would be easier for you to anchor and/or lead. There are also other ways to contribute during the meeting.
Just for anyone else who is reading also - this will be probably be the last time I can anchor or lead for a long time as daylight saving will finish in Australia on March 31st and the meeting will then be at 5.30 am in my time zone. So I would like to contribute in this way as it's the last for a while. :)

Hello, I can "assist" with the 29th April meeting by
"Anchoring" --
in the sense of showing up, making sure meeting gets started,
and showing others where the meeting format is.
However, I will simultaneously participating in an important business teleconference
at the SAME TIME. I might be pulled away.
Therefore, I won't be able to give the PA meeting my full attention.
I might be able to do a good portion of the PA copy/paste hosting --
but I will definitely need HELP keeping things flowing.
Let's leave at this:
I'll show up to get the meeting started.
I'll copy and paste what I can.
I will rely on whoever shows up that day to
"co-carry" the load.
With all of us working together, the meeting will happen!
