Good morning, y'all! Here I am, trying to get back on track. It's going to be tough...

no one here

I'm getting tired of being here alone. I don't mind a day or two with no one (or almost no one) else here, but lately I'm talking to myself almost all the time. So I guess I'll leave, too. If traffic picks up, maybe I'll come back.

Bye.

Too busy

Sorry, pro. I've just been too busy to check in lately. That and DH broke his foot last weekend so has been home 'hovering' around me every day, AND, the PC I often go to hide at at work to CUOP on has also been surrounded with people of late, doing some stupid project.

I think it's very important that you keep checking in. You've seen the last week how easy it is to fall off the wagon again and retreat into isolation and old habits. Please don't stop checking in - it's so good for you!!!!!!!!

I'll be back soon :) (not that I'm much help as we are in opposite time zones, but anyway...)

doesn't help

I would not say that posting in a forum where I hardly ever get an answer does much for my sense of isolation. In fact, the opposite.

I need a break from this forum. I can't keep it going single-handedly. Either it will develop as a community or it won't. I've poured energy into it the last few months and at times we've had more people checking in, but they leave so maybe the forum isn't that useful to people. I don't know - I'm just tired of posting without any responses. It's not good for me.

You're too busy, everyone else is too busy, no one needs it, so good bye.

aren't we procrastinators?

Hi Pro,

I think you shouldn't worry too much if people are not checking in
as regularly: in my case for instance it was because I was PROCRASTINATING!!! and I just felt if I were to post a lot it would get me to work???!!!!
Having realised that posting get me to work, when I want to procrastinate, I simply post as less as I can.
For instance, yesterday, I didn't do any work, so avoided posting and today I am back at squarre0!!!

Might I add...

I was being nice, pro. Perhaps you didn't notice?

nice

Sorry I didn't notice. You want a medal? :P

OF COURSE!

What, do you think that happens all the time or something???!!!!

Okay, whatever you want.

It's up to you, of course. Do what you need to do.

pro's CI - 7:55pm

I'm very depressed. I really feel it when I go outside. I should go to a meeting, but I don't think the meeting at Perry Street will do much for me. I probably won't get a seat anyway because they do that obnoxious seat saving thing. Maybe I'll just watch a movie.

Gee... Our community here seems to be thinning. Not too many people bookending. :( Oh well - I'm going to keep doing it 'cause it helps me.

I took a short nap (just 20 minutes) and I feel a lot perkier. The Benedryl must be clearing from my system. I'm going to go pick up my prescriptions.

I shouldn't have taken the Benedryl this morning. It's nice not to be sneezing, but I'm so tired I can't do anything.

I don't want to walk up and down those stairs even more more time today - it exhausts me. So no more errands (e.g. picking up my prescriptions), and no meeting today. I'm not sure how much I'll get done in my apartment, either, because I just want to go to sleep.

I feel very tired and low energy, and I just realized it's because of the Benedryl I took for my allegies. I really need to pick up my allergy prescription.

Next time I go downstairs I should put a load of laundry in the machine. Ugh. But I know it will make me feel better, so I will do it. Because I WANT to do it, to feel better.

laundry

I'm going to read outside while my laundry is in the machine. That will save me from going up and down the stairs, it will be good for me to be outside, and want to read this book.

pro's CI - 1:40pm

Another VERY slow start today, but at least I'm finally done with my morning routine (or "wakeup routine") and I'm ready to go out and do my many errands. I'm not going to come near to getting done all that I want to get done today. I took Benydryl for my allergies since I'm out of my prescription meds - I really need to pick those up today.

I think I might want to do some additional work (maybe on the train) to upgrade my skill set. There must be a book/magazine I could be reading or a computer program I should be exploring. My job doesn't really promote doing "new stuff" at the moment. Not sure what exactly I want to do yet but this might help me stay a little more interested in my field(?)

Things I chose to do so far today:
- Got to work on time
- Caught up on emails... I can't believe the stuff that comes in over the weekend. I have dreams of destroying one persons Blackberry
- Updated passwords
- Compare installation file versions - Ok!
- Find out who is writing install guide (not me)
- One meeting
- Weekly status report
- Work on support call
- Source control task

Things I would still like to do:
- Get next months train pass
- Program - Task 1
- Program - Task 2
- Weekly review
- Put cabinet & cardboard in dumpster - tonight

pro's first check-in - 11:10am

I'm getting a late start. I've been feeling very off-balance and screwed up for the last week or so, and I think it's because I'm not getting outside enough. I'm starting to isolate again. I was doing much better when I was going to meetings every day. I stopped doing that when I got sick, and I've deteriorated mentally since. I need meetings - not because I'm in imminent danger of using, but because of what it gives me socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Today is Monday and there is no meeting in my neighborhood that I particularly like on Mondays. I usually go to Perry Street, but frankly I hate Perry Street meetings. Maybe I'll go anyway.

Meanwhile, I need to start my day. I've been reading a book and I'm still not dressed. I need to pick up my allergy prescription. I've been out for a few days, and I can't stop sneezing and my eyes itch terribly. Plus I haven't picked up my mail for several days. I need to rejoin the world.

I'll start with my morning routine - no other way. I should have ("should"?) started exercising today, but I spent the time reading and now I need to get going.

hey pro!

I need meetings - not because I'm in imminent danger of using, but because of what it gives me socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Me, too. I've been really backsliding lately, and I think it's because I haven't been going to as many meetings. I keep missing my Saturday one b/c I'm out of town. Need to try a couple of other meetings, too.

isolating

I get into these "isolating" frames of mind where I don't want to go out, and then the more I give into that the worse I feel and the less I want to go out. It's a vicious cycle.

Even right now, having not been out for days and with bright sunshine outside my window, I feel a reluctance to go out. I want to stay home and read a book. It's kind of crazy.

Second half of last week, I didn't get much done. I was feeling very sad and angry over some relatively small things (I think my feelings were valid but I overreacted). I need to get back on track and keep making progress wherever I can.
