pro's CI - 5:45pm

Well, I ended up taking a fairly long nap. I was very tired. I wasn't sleeping well for a while after I was sick.

So I guess that's it for work for today. I'm leaving soon, and I'll be out all evening.

todayfirst 4pm

Well, I wasn't making any progress so I switched gears and got some more of the little other tasks done. I'm hoping that once I sort out what I really want to accomplish with this program, I will have some time to do it without feeling pressure to do a bunch of other things. I was making great progress on it earlier this week but that sort of fizzled out yesterday.

Things I chose to do so far today:
- Workout
- Responded proactively to a couple emails
- Order dumpster
- Send question to legal
- one meeting
- Write use case #1
- Write use case #2
- Program #1 - minor updates
- Source control task

Things I would still like to do today:
- Program #2 - Work on it for at least 2 hours
- Bug boss about how we are going to handle Program #3

pro's CI - 3:50pm

I ate lunch and cleaned up after. (Forgot to take midday pills - need to do that.) And now I feel like taking a nap. I certainly do NOT feel like sorting more financial data. :(

actually...

Maybe it isn't such a good idea that I start the sorting of the last folder. The previous folder, which was about half the size, took me nearly two hours. This one will take a lot longer than two hours, and I have to leave to be somewhere in two hours. I will be a mess to stop in the middle.

But... that's just an excuse. I could separate it into years - 2004, 2005, 2006. That wouldn't take so long.

I just feel so sleeply.

quick nap

I'll take a very short nap - 15-20 minutes. That can be very refreshing (I've heard).

nap

ooh, I want a nap too (then again, I usually do!). too bad.

pro's CI - 3:10pm

Progress on my back accounting is slow, but I have to remember that slow progress is worlds apart from no progress. If I keep doing several hours a day on it, eventually it will get done.

I'm going to take a lunch break now, and look at the books I ordered that just arrived.

It is amazing how OTHER PEOPLE are so willing to WASTE other people's time. Only thinking of their own a**. I will have to learn how to kick some *** : been raised in having too much understanding. May be shouldn't complain about that as it is thanks to this frame of mind someone is willing to help me make much much more money. When I was out earlier I thought about picking up something for lunch, but didn't. I'll scrounge around here I guess. I'm not that hungry, and tonight I'm going out for dinner.

todayfirst 8:50AM EST

Well, it's been a busy week so far. And overall I've felt productive. Yesterday, I found myself just staring at the screen between meetings though. I keep getting more to do, which is ok but I was having trouble concentrating on any one task.

In the kitchen, I've still got two leaks to fix (the one I fixed started up again). Try try again. I think its time I get a dumpster and clean out the carport/basement/etc so we can put the cars inside during the witner. This needs to be done regardless of whether the kitchen is "done"

Things I chose to do so far today:
- Workout :)
- Responded proactively to a couple emails

Things I would still like to do today:
- Order dumpster
- Send question to legal
- one meeting
- Write use case #1
- Write use case #2
- Program #1 - minor updates
- Program #2 - Work on it for at least 2 hours
- Bug boss about how we are going to handle Program #3

WTG on the workout!!

Great you worked out!

I want to start exercising again next week. I was so sick last week, I want to give myself some time to build my strength back up this week. Also, I'm still coughing a lot.

workout

thanks. It was a pretty short workout but I keep telling myself that it is better to get a short workout than none. My knee really appreciates it!

I did some, pro!

Hi all,

Just a quick check-in to tell pro I did some of my long-procrastinated-on research and feedback to tie up some loose ends with clients (one client tonight).

I won't lie, I haven't collated it and actually sent it to her yet - but I made a good start on it, just as promised!!!!!!

Now I have to finish it!!!!

But it's 10:30 now and I'm tired - off to bed. The kids will wake around 6 (and DS might wake during the night, too, he's a bit unsettled) so I need to go to bed NOW!

'Night all!!!!! Have a happy and productive day!!! :)

keep at it, Milo!!

That's a good start, but FINISHING is your challenge!!!! I'm going to work at my back accounting again today, so you work on your client follow-up tomorrow, okay??????

Okay

It's not an easy day to do work today - have the kids at home. But tonight is free so I will done some then!

I see you did more back accounting - way to go!!!!!!! :)

(RIF didn't close a font tag!!!!! The thread has gone green!)

pro's CI - 9am

I'm going to go back to exercising each morning next week. This week I'm still not 100% after my illness - coughing a lot, feeling a little weak.

free time

Maybe buy new bed? You've been talking about that.

Do you have a "master list"? That's good for when you have a few minutes. You can look it over to see what long-term projects you've been putting off.

Thank you pro

Oh dear, grump grump grump (me not you) - but seriously thank you pro for reminding me of that. I can't make my mind up. I want a bed, sofa, lighting, table(s) and chairs and would like to get it all in one go as one delivery charge.

Master list well many and various as I never keep to them. I do need just one. That might be a good idea for my free time.

Thanks Rexroth

Nice to have free time

Hi Rexroth,

It is really nice   to have a
"> there is some time here and I don't have plans for it"

You must have mastered your procrastination to be on top of things?

I am taking example   on you: hopefully I will be organised enough sometimes.

Oh dear no.....

You must have mastered your procrastination to be on top of things?

Does the ? indicate any doubt in your mind?

Oh dear no,would it were so

In fact the reason I have time is that I am in such a muddle with so many things I could/should need/want to do that I can't think of what to do. I feel unwell/muddled/confused and distressed at the moment. Also perhaps I didn't want to committ to doing any one thing.

Regards Rexroth

Got the IT guy in. He says he was on time and wants to
be paid all the hours as if he started on time! I said no
as he was late... This is leaving a sour taste.
When I think the hr receive tons and tons of CVs and the only
pb: we can't hire. If someone leaves, they are not replaced
and we have to add load on ourselves. Long arguments with the person. Finally came up with a compromise. I hate managing people.
I don't want to be clocking people in really...

Back at step15 : read the file. understand what it means. translate. test. check spelling and grammar. Translate back. Compare with original text.

Seems that I was very very very optimist on how long it would take.
Is that typical of procrastinators: feeling we have all the time in the world and underestimating how long things take?

Hi All,

Was on the road for 2 days. Came in yesterday and feel asleep at 23:00. Woke up at 08:30 and tidies up very quickly, shower, teeth , ... and head off to the office for 09:20. No breakfast.
Then waiting for the IT staff who should be in today at 09:30.
Turned up late. So I left for the post office at 19:40.
Got a text message... I can't stand working people who turn up at work late.
I had to rush, inspite of the BIG tiredness to get ready and run through to be in the office on time: WHY ON EARTH PEOPLE DO NOT TURN UP ON TIME. And then they are paid as well. Will open the door for 11:30. It is raining outside as well...

underestimating how much time

>I just want to get this website1 out of the way. When I think on
saturday, I was hoping to get it finished for monday????!!!!
Seems that I was very very very optimist on how long it would take.
Is that typical of procrastinators: feeling we have all the time in the world and underestimating how long things take?

I don't know about all procrastinators, but it's sure typical of me! I once priced a job at $4300 that should have been priced at $30,000 because I drastically underestimated the time. For a dot-com business of my own, I told customers I thought the programming for a transition would take me a week. It ended up taking me 4 months of 20 hour days.

I've been trying to notice how long each thing takes so I stop doing this. It's a big problem for me.
