Happy Sunday everyone!!!!! (LOVE the new graphics, pro!!! Thanks!)

I give up

I don't want to brush my teeth or take a shower. My back is killing me. I just want to lie down on something that won't make my back worse. I'll lay down on pillows, and I'll brush my teeth, etc. in the morning.

Good night!

    • Take last dose of pills.

The new one will be delivered tomorrow, so this is the last night on this awful bed. Maybe I'll put some pillows under me. This mattress is like sleeping on the ground outside - hard and uneven.

Started feeling crummy when we got home from church. It's been downhill from there. Probably should have taken a nap. Headache started early and I didn't take anything hoping it would go away on its own. Finally took something around supper time. Oh well. Wasn't really planning on doing anything today anyway.

Ta Da:
- up a bit late (8:45), but DH got up to the kids so I had another hour's sleep
- NONE of morning routine
- oh, yes, I made the bed
- dressed kids
- did last night's dishes and breakfast dishes
- put away more washing
- filled ironing basket (so you know what I have to do tonight!)
- dusted whole house
- put kids jammies in bathroom ready for tonight's bath
- lunch for all
- tidied lunch mess
- put DS to bed
- swept and mopped floors
- drew up office plan to decide what kind of desk and office furniture I want to buy
- researched office furniture
- dress in running gear
- take the kids to the park
- make dinner
- eat dinner, do dishes
- kids bath, book, bed
- shower
- ironing

Ditched:
- go for a run
- talk to DH about a promotion
- weekly review and weekly plan

I didn't go for a run because DH was in such a foul mood (he was a complete git this weekend) that I just took the kids straight to the park to get away from him. But we went to a local primary school that had lots of equipment and a HUGE sandpit (probably bigger than pro's apartment ;)), so I did exercises on the equipment and ran laps in the sandpit until I was sufficiently stuffed :).

Sounds like you've had a fantastic day pro - you're blessed to have so much diversity within one park.

Rexroth Sounds to me like what I've heard of demand-resistance too. At least you're aware of that and you've overcome it in the past.

HR You've got a good goal there (ooh - Recent Comment just come in from HR - I'll just pop over and have a look at your update!).... OK, I'm back. WTG - You did it! :)

Using quotes "" in the wrong font from MSWord messes with the color. Don't ask me how that works. It took me a few tries to get that one figured out for me.

pro's CI - 6pm

I'm back from Central Park and eating dinner. Central Park is incredible. I can't believe that in all the years I lived in New York (and it was a lot), I never explored Central Park with a map before so I could find things and knew where I was going. I knew there was an area of native NYC habitat (the Ramble), but I never went into it because I was afraid I'd get lost. (Central Park is huge - 843 acres.) Today I went in there, and I absolutely could not believe I was in the center of NYC. I took some pictures with my cell phone. Maybe I'll post one later (have to get them off my phone).

I had also never before walked all the way down the mall to Bethesda Fountain. I'd never seen the fountain before, and it's the centerpiece of the park. I'm not even 100% sure I'd ever been on the mall before. Come to think of it, I've been to the bandshell (I think), but it was a long time and I have no clear memory of it.

I definitely had never seen the Shakespeare Garden before. It's beautiful. I thought it was nicer than the Botanical Gardens as a place to sit and enjoy. And I never saw or knew about the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre before. I'd like to go to a marionette show (I love marionettes). I took a schedule.

Then there's the lake, which I had seen before. When I was 14 years old, I smoked marijuana for the first time in a row boat on the lake in Central Park (not exactly an occasion for celebration, considering where that went :P).

Anyway, I had a great day. I walked from 59th Street to about 82nd Street and cross town from 8th Avenue to about 5th Avenue, then back again. I think that's about 5 miles (1 mile per 10 city block, plus the cross town). I wasn't jogging, but a 5 mile walk counts as exercise, I think.

Oh - there was also a live swing band at the bandshell. I really want to learn to swing dance. I did it once and it was a lot of fun, but I don't remember how to do it anymore. There's another dance at the bandshell next Saturday afternoon.

Central Park is very unique - I don't think any of major city has set aside 843 acres of park land in the city center. I feel very fortunate it's there. It makes losing my home in the country sting less.

hi Pro

I am 53 and born and raised in New york. I lot of what you're seeing in the park is new. I mean some parts are less than 15 years old. The fountain was always the center of the park but the mall and the Shakespeare Garden , the garden for john lennon and a few other parts are city gifts from Yoko ono, Diana Ross and Beth Middler mainly.

When I was 19 the biggest free costume party in the city was held at the fountain. I went for years until the Gay parade took over and people went to it instead. The Park is a treasure.

I hope you take swing it is one of the most aerobic workouts you can do and it is fun.

the mall

Actually, I know the mall was part of the original design of the park because I read it in a brass plaque today. It was supposed to be the place where people trotted out their Sunday best to see and be seen, and at the end of the mall was Bethesda Fountain.

Central Park

You know Central Park a lot better than I do! The Shakespeare Garden was a wonderful gift. It's lovely.

I do know that the Ramble has been there since the beginning. Here's a picture I took with my cell phone.

BTW I find this so difficult to do. As soon as I post a todo list I start resenting 'having' to do it. Feels like demand-resistance. I don't have to post a list, I can chose what is in the list, I don't have to do what is in the list. What I remember is feeling very similar when a long time ago I started to take recovery actions in DA, actions like keeping income and spending records. It took me months of resentment until I found myself doing it without effort or confusion. So I'm going to keep acting in faith. Thanks for support and for this site.

I ended up ordering the mattress over the phone, and now I'm not sure what to do with my day. Definitely I want to go outside - it's really nice out.

The mattress will be delivered tomorrow afternoon, and then I will have to get rid of my current mattress, which will be a royal pain because I live on the top floor of a walkup, and I need to bring the old mattress down to the basement. It's huge and weighs a ton. I guess I can drag it down the stairs.

yes, Central Park

Still trying to decide what to do today...

I think I will go to Central Park, but by subway rather than bike so I can walk around freely. The Ramble (wild area of the park) is one of the best birdwatching sites in the country, and it's fall so birds are migrating. Maybe I'll go over there with binoculars and a novel. Hopefully I'll be able to FIND this part of the park. I don't have the map I ordered yet, but I printed one out from the internet.

eh!

Never mind binoculars. The book is enough. Be back later...

I ordered a map of Central Park. Having done that, I need to move. I don't want to dawdle through my morning routine. I waste half the day that way and feel bad. So onward!!

possible day plan

I just had an idea for a possible day plan. The place where I bought my futon (and where I'm thinking of buying the new mattress) is a bit of a hike from here, and I don't like taking the subway. I don't mind walking, but it takes a lot of time. It's a beautiful day today, so I'm thinking of getting my bike and using that for transportation today. Riding in the streets of New York can be terrifying, but people do it every day without getting killed, so I guess I can, too. I have very good bike locks - probably it won't be stolen. And then after purchasing the mattress I can ride up to Central Park and explore it on my bike. I'll probably still get lost, but on a bike it's easier to get the lay of the land. On the other hand, I don't think you're allowed to ride a bike on the small paths - only the main transverses. So I dunno - I'll think about it.

forget Central Park

I just heard on NPR that there's an enormous parade in midtown. It will be a zoo. I'm not going up there.

pro's first check-in - 7:50am EDT US

I'm glad you like the new graphics, Milo. I had fun collecting them. :)

I woke up with a headache again - I think this sudden spate of migraines is because my allergies are very active. Sinus stuff can trigger migraines in me.

I also woke up dreaming about my most recent ex - person I was seeing in New England before I moved back to New York. This person left me, and in my dream I was being left again. It's weird to have a nightmare, and then wake up to remember that it actually happened to you already. This wasn't the love of my life or anything - not by a longshot. But I was very lonely after, and sunk into a very bad depression. I had to be put on antidepressants so I didn't off myself.

Cheery morning chatter (NOT!). Okay - enough of that!

I'm up early - that's good. Eye's itching (allergies).

I'm going to shop for a new mattress today. The old futon mattress I have can cause me serious back pain. You can get futon mattresses with box springs now. I didn't get one when I bought the frame because I was broke and I figured this one was good enough. I'm still broke, but it even hurts my back to lie down and watch TV, and that's no good. The mattress is lumpy and too hard.

I'm going to try to finish my morning routine this morning before I start doing other things. I feel better when I do it that way.

Milo 2pm

I'm still in my PJs, but don't care }:). I have still got a few things done, so am happy enough about progress today. And it's Sunday, and noone ever drops in on us, so who cares???!!!!!

Ta Da:
- up a bit late (8:45), but DH got up to the kids so I had another hour's sleep
- NONE of morning routine }:)
- oh, yes, I made the bed :)
- dressed kids
- did last night's dishes and breakfast dishes

- lunch for all
- tidied lunch mess
- put DS to bed
- swept and mopped floors
- drew up office plan to decide what kind of desk and office furniture I want to buy
- researched office furniture

To Do:
- dress in running gear
- go for a run when DH has finished mowing lawns (seems odd logic so I'll explain at the bottom of the post)
- take the kids to the park
- make dinner
Evening
- eat dinner, do dishes
- kids bath, book, bed
- shower (unless I'm really icky after my run, but I don't sweat, so it's not likely)
- talk to DH about a promotion
- weekly review and weekly plan
- ironing (unless I can offload some to DH. He's not in the best mood this weekend so I might not even try...)

Now, the kids are afraid of the lawnmower, so they hide inside shouting hello to DH through the window while he mows (and of course can't hear them) and I have to be here or they'll freak, or I'll come home and find they've painted the dog or washed their teddies in the toilet. So when DH has finished and the kids go outside to play, I'll go for a run then. It's a cool day (but sunny) so I can run in the middle of the day without overheating too much (because I don't sweat, I overheat REALLY easily).

I'm really looking forward to my run. I have been trying really hard to make time to run, and it's paying off - I am doing better each time and I hardly needed any ventalin last time at all (I'm asthmatic). Soon I'll be in that 'elite' club I used to hate the members of (because I thought I could never do it, hence my 'elite' comment...just sour grapes :P)....Runners.

So, Milo....

Where'd you go? You posted this just before I went to bed. I hope you come back.

>Now, the kids are afraid of the lawnmower, so they hide inside shouting hello to DH through the window while he mows (and of course can't hear them) and I have to be here or they'll freak, or I'll come home and find they've painted the dog or washed their teddies in the toilet.

:D That's a funny image - you write well!

>So when DH has finished and the kids go outside to play, I'll go for a run then. It's a cool day (but sunny) so I can run in the middle of the day without overheating too much (because I don't sweat, I overheat REALLY easily).

Do you mean you don't sweat easily (versus not at all)? Seems to me that if you didn't sweat at all your life would be in danger - you could be brain damaged on a hot summer day. I've read that people who are fit sweat more easily than people who are not fit. But if you're a runner, you must be fit. :?

Sweating

Not at all, for the most part. Yes, I have to be careful!!!!

I will sweat if I have skin-on-skin (ie, crossing my legs when they're bare, or under my arms a little) but most certainly not like normal people do. I never (and I mean NEVER) sweat on my face. Haven't ever - in fact the opposite is true. I go bright red in the face and my skin goes very dry and smooth. The back of my neck might get a bit moist, but that's usually if my hair is down (it's longish) on a hot day - not from exercise.

I'm not fit - just trying to get there. I certainly don't run fast OR a long way! I'm still a beginner :).

Yes, I never came back...oops. Will do my last check-in now before I do Monday's first!!!!
