hiccups

I keep getting the hiccups. They go away for a while, then come back. Very annoying.

slider's goodnight

I've been about 15-30 minutes late on everything I planned today (except for the scheduled group activities at the nursing home), but I can at least go to bed on time. I'm not doing anything productive, nor am I doing anything I enjoy (just playing solitaire alternately with checking email and stuff). It's like I just donwanna be good today, yet I don't think of anything I'm rebelling against. Oh, yeah--there's that longstanding thing of not wanting to work on Mondays at all. I'd like to take Mondays off after hard days on Sunday, but since I only get one day off, I picked Saturday to be with family. Sometimes on Saturday I wish I were anywhere BUT with family! ;) Bottom line: I really want 2 days off. I better think about this some. Perhaps I can make Monday morning a mini "retreat" at least. Can I justify that? Have to think about it. G'night.

bedtime ontime (NOT!)

Good for you for getting to bed on time. I can't say the same. (It's an hour earlier where you are.)

Sure - take some time off on Mondays. You deserve it! :)

pro's CI - 10:05pm

I finished everything on my to-do list - feels good!! But now I'm late starting my bedtime routine, so time to get moving!!

Good Morning Milo!

Hi there! I rarely catch you online at the same time I am... It's so weird that you are starting on tues and I'm winding monday down! INternet magic.

It's pretty cool, huh?

except that I miss lots of chatting during your days :(

1Focus 8:40

I was having PA withdrawals today! Right after my 9:45 post this morning, a highway crew cut 2 trunk lines feeding work's end of the county. No phone and no internet till midinight! I wasn't able to check in all afternoon to help me stay motivated, but since I had posted my to-do list I at least had a list to work off. I asked for an interesting day 8)

Proudly Accomplished:

I want To Do:

Evening Routine
• Office chores

• Early to bed (lights out 10:00pm)

NEW One big focus:
Garage storage project

NEW one big focus!

That's cool - does that mean you've got your previous One Big Focus under control? I sure wish I had my financial situation under control. It's spiraled way out of control.

No internet! Augh. I wouldn't like that. :(

Under control.

As long as I stay on top of finances daily, we'll be making progress on those credit cards, and even having a little fun along the way. :D

Gettin it done 8:05 p.m.

Hi guys! Wow I finished everything on my to do list today! I am so proud of myself!!! I intentionally kept the list kinda short knowing I never get as much done as I think I can. It sure feels better to keep the list managable level and Acutally complete it. I even washed the new eggs that came in the door TONIGHT as well as the two day old ones soaking in the sink. WOW. It's a really good thing eggs are good at room temp. for 14 days. Otherwise I'd lose a lot of eggs.

Breakfast for everyone
Everyone (Me /the girls)Dressed and ready for day
DD3 to school
Dropped egg order off at church
Socialized w/ friend while DD0 slept and DD3 schooled
Lunch for me and girls
Kids Napping ( ahhh, the sound of silence)

Lights out 10:00

finishing the whole to-do list

I'm very close to doing the same, and your success is inspiring me to keep going. I was on the edge of blowing off my spam folder when I read your post. }:)

G-I-D 9:00

Laundry folded

folded and put away!!

GOOOO ME!

Finishing it off

Ha ha, I know how you feel! That last bit is always put off and when you do it (before it's sat on the lounge for a week) it feels GREAT!!!!!

pro's CI - 8:10pm

I think I'm going to be able to finish everything on my to-do list today (except for the things I knew I wouldn't have time to do - Rollover stuff). How cool it that? :)

film crew still there

I was just walking back from the meeting, and the film crew is still there. I was starting to see actors in costume on the way to the meeting, now there are big bunches of them. They are easy to pick out because they are all wearing Halloween costumes. Apparently this episode of Six Degrees is going to air the Thursday closest to Halloween. I might be there in a brief walk-by - the camera was rolling as I walked down 8th Avenue. The director yelled cut, though, so probably I won't be. They have a huge 20,000 candle light in a high window in a building on 14th Street that lights up the entire street two blocks down.

They also have the most AMAZING spread of food on Jane Street. I was tempted to dig in, but restrained myself. :P

I bet that food is yummy yummy!!

I would like to see that arpead but would like to partake even more!!! mmmm....

pro's CI - 6:25pm

Leaving for meeting now, so this will be a quick post. But I do want to mention that in giving the prorated refunds to my customers, I had to go through my email to find all the requests (there were just three), and in the process discovered that I have over 200 messages in my "Deferred" folder, some from 2005! I'll put that on my to-do list.

Fun Errands

My errands would be much more fun if I had a soho like atmostphere to walk thru. Standard wally world and extra nice grocery store is about it for me. The downtown area in the little town near us seems to be growing and new interesting looking shops are popping up here and there though.

Oh, yeah!

Pro, your jaunts around town sound SO thrilling I don't see how you can stay cooped up with programming all day long (except maybe on bad weather days). I'm really envious of all that you are surrounded by!

adventures walking around

New York can be a lot of fun. It's a very unique place. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is sing with the musicians in Washington Square Park. On holidays like July 4th, some really great professional musicians show up with keyboards and guitars.

New York can be hard to take at times, too. There's a lot of construction on the street - I don't know why they are forever digging up the streets. It can be dirty, loud and crowded. Everything is good and bad. But when it's good, it's very, very good. :)

And the RESTAURANTS! Don't get me started on the restaurants. I think that has a lot to do with why I gained weight when I first moved back here. I wasn't used to having all this around me and I went on an eating frenzy, the consequences of which I'm now having trouble losing.

shooting another TV show

They're shooting another TV show on 12th Street (Six Degrees, this time), and the film crew is set up right in front of my building. There's an amazing amount of equipment - I can't imagine what they need all that stuff for. There's an ambulance parked on the corner that's part of the shoot. 12th Street seems to be The Place to shoot TV shows this season.

After they've been there for 12 hours or so, a table full of goodies usually comes out - usually right in front of my building. I wonder if they'll let me have some. It looked pretty good last time. :P

tiredness and transitions

I'm realizing that I feel like taking a break now, after walking all over the Village and SoHo for four hours. Well, an hour or so of that was spent hanging out at NYU - first at Tisch plaza with the math geniuses, eating a chicken pita sandwich (cheap, but kind of greasy), and then on the edge of the fountain in Washington Square Park. NYU students were littered all over the park with text books, notebooks, and highlighters. It's a beautiful day, and there was a band playing New Orleans jazz on the east side of the park - pleasant. I was wearing my new extra shock-absorbing running shoes, so miraculously my feet don't hurt from four hours on cement.

I'm allowed to take a break, right? I think I will (after I put away the groceries, etc.).

scarlett CI 3:21 pm

Slooooow as molasses today, maybe that's just the way Mondays are. In a new approach, I've put the reasons why I don't want to do each task in parentheses. Hmm, maybe next I should add the reasons why I WANT to do each one! ;)

For now I'm going to eat a snack (energy is flagging) and try the job description thing again.

actually, that's a good idea

It's a good idea to think through why you WANT to do these things. Lip service doesn't really help that much, but when you think it through and realize you really do want the consequence of doing these things versus the consequence of not, then you know you really do want to do these things, no kidding, and then it's much easier.

That's what I do when I change "want" to "should" - think through why I really do want to do these things.

Want to

Yes, let's focus on why you want to get these things completed. I want to know.

scarlett CI 11:55 am

So I got totally off track b/c my supvr and I found a stray dog. She's taking him to the pound and I took pictures and searched for lost dogs. Such a little sweetie. I have two cats AND I'm not allowed to have a dog in my apartment AND I'm not a dog person - but with all of that I STILL wanted to take him home.

I hope he's got a chip. :( (edit: boss is back, owner was found! yay!)

But anyway, back to it.

slider's 8:15 CI

Thought of six fires I have to put out today, so I worked them into the list, too. Tending kitty will mean pushing back going over to the church by 15 minutes. Ah, drat--now I can't think of the 6th!

Done:
--Get up at 6:30 to make sure everyone is up.
--Go back to sleep till 8 am.
--begun Morning routine

To Do:
--finish morning routine
--check on kitten
--go to church at 9:15 am
--pick up newspapers
--check in with secretary, but try to get away to study
--call dentist for appointment for DS
--get stew tickets to sell at nursing home (it's also a retirement center)
--declutter study
--leave for nursing home at 11:00
--gas?
--nursing home Monday routine
--leave nursing home after lunch to pick up communion cups
--leave at 5:00 (DON'T STAY LATE!)
--go home, snack, rest
--make plan for evening
--include installation of toilet kit

Hoo Boy!

My shower reminded me what the 6th thing was--the cold water is surging. Gotta call the well company! Alternating between freezing and boiling is not a good way to take a shower! Also, I'm running behind through dawdling, time binging, paying attention to things that are not important right now. I am going to stop that right now!

gee, that's sounds familiar

>I'm running behind through dawdling, time binging, paying attention to things that are not important right now. I am going to stop that right now!

That's just what I do. Stop that right now! (I second your imperative. :) )

pro's CI - 9:30am

I'm going to start my day (after my morning routine, of course) with my errands. I've been putting those off since last week, and it's getting critical. Also, I've hardly been out of my apartment for days because I've been programming all the time. And it's a nice day - good day for walking.
