Soul Searching (God & Faith to help get things done)

I am not sure if this should reside in the Misc. forum but will leave it here for now as I do not want to distract others.

In addition to a life long problem with procrastination I find myself in midlife with a not uncommon reassessment of self. I won't go into detail here as this not the appropriate venue. However as this searching journey relates to procrastination I do want to share some ________ (fill the blank) if not other reason than to get them out of my head. My theme will be Christian based and what I am receiving and striving to give as well.

OK enough intro.

In establishing new workday patterns and discipline I am starting every day in the WORD and with God. How?

  • At first awareness in the morning I mentally thank GOD for the day and a NEW opportunity to get more advanced down the road that is my life.
  • First thing done at the office is my daily reading page by page of the Bible (I have started many time but never finished reading the textbook of my faith front to back) I am advancing page by page (Genesis 34 btb and fyi as of today)
  • I write and say a new prayer for that day. As part of a men's Bible study I am now adding a prayer list for my 'enemies' and those who can use a hand form above (if you would like me to add you to my prayer list just respond and I will post or respond when I have prayed for you)
  • Now I start my Workday.
How is this helping? Well I have not missed a day since Aug 1 ,2010 of doing the above BEFORE i do anything else in my day. SO the habit is starting to root. How long does it take me to get this done? Some days hours other days 30 minutes but over time it is taking less time plus I am getting to work earlier so I can get it done and still have a full day of work.

Benefit is I am progressively more at peace, I am getting a repetitive "task" completed each and everyday with out fail. It is empowering my self esteem because I am not walking alone. I have a full team with me The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. The thing that is of highest priority, my soul, is getting done deligently, joyfully each and everyday. From that base more will come.

There it is. Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing Vaio

Thanks for sharing Vaio

I start and finish each day with prayer and reflection and this works for me.

In the morning I ask what is required of me today and in the evening what I have, and haven't, done.

Thanks VAIO

To me this is relevant b/c 12 step programs are programs of spirituality.  I am trying to work out a way to get prayer and meditation in my day, daily.  I am working with my sponsor in another program, and your experience, strength and hope really helped!

Action PRECEDES "figuring it all out!"

Action PRECEDES 'figuring it all out!"

Julie,

Agreed that action PRECEDES. Always a good reminder. Thanks.

On working prayer an meditation into your day it is one of those "just" things. For me it is a base habit/practice that I am AWARE to do daily. For me it is my highest Priority.

I have just said a short prayer for your desire of daily prayer to become as fixed in your day as is the sunrise and sunset.

Chiao,
