Scribbler's Monday CI

Spent most of yesterday fixing a leaky toilet. It was challenging and dirty, among other drawbacks, but I tried to treat it like a game or a puzzle and was somewhat  successful at enjoying it while doing it. I'm not anxious to do it again, but if I do have to, it won't be the end of the world. And, for now, it's done. Today:

Prep

  • get up by 7 (not even close; hard to get to sleep last night)
  • Coffee, paper, water plants
  • Healthy breakfast
  • Checkins

Morning

  • Send query
  • Q 5 re: Music
  • Add 5 to music db
  • Index CP emails against db
  • File three re: CIO1

Afternoon

  • Invoice re: CIO
  • Update quicken w/AW invoice
  • Invoice JH
  • File October franchise blurb
  • Return recorder
  • Get new recorder (?)

Evening

  • Do ASG open mic

Now I've done this list, it looks like a pretty full day but I don't have cutting the grass or getting any kind of exercise on thie list. One of those needs to be on there, it seems to me.

Well, I didn't  do too badly, all things considered. I got hellishly distracted by a call from a booker asking me if I want to play this coming Sunday. That prompted all kinds of dithering that I won't go into now. Anyway, I'm going to do the gig, which means a whole bunch more work learning new songs, etc between now and then. But I'm very happy about it.

Counting down

9:55 AM: Four weeks left at my current lame duck post. Still trying hard to improve my approach to work and get caught up, because it will only start again where I go next. I also have two weeks of regularly scheduled work before a couple of "clean up" weeks before I head out the door for the final time. Have to try to focus on the near term.

I have a scheduled meeting at 1 PM, and some work to finish in preparation for the meeting. That will be my goal, which I feel myself already trying to put off, despite knowing that is not possible.

Goal 1: 10:10 AM - 1 PM: Complete meeting preparation work adequately.

Back to report.

MD's check in (M=Mon? D=Dread?)

It seems these check-ins got better when I am not overly pre-focused on doing them in detail. Appt cancelled this morn so quick opportunity here......

Sunday - 2/3 done on big things, though the BIGGEST ignored. So today's are 2 biggies. -- TWO BIG LENGTHY CALLS and bag o' bills.

What others posted below about "tempting things" distracting us, is recently I've found LESS ability to find distractions even pleasant--not sure if that's due to age, build-up of the stress, or (in a werid way) a way of non-procrastinating about the task...or not.....(????)  Though I must admit, fooling oneself with pleasantries (vs. doing tough things) has or HAD its moments!

hope4meandu checkin (10:05AM)

Hi Buddies,

Thanks Lennon for the starter!!

Yesterday was a tv binge, though thankfully, I did my workout - 3x's last week. Very depressed today. Can't understand how come I'm not overcoming this procrastination faster. I guess I'm not working on it enough.

So depressed, can't do anything at work either..

Will check-in later.

♥Prayers & guidance needed & appreciated for my Yoffee's healing.♥

Hope you keep trying

I have the same problem. with tv and also depression.

journey 10 am &

Had a very busy weekend, some fun stuff and some work.   Yesterday I went with the kids and grandkids to the zoo and it was a lot of fun but I'm still tired!   Getting a slow start this morning.   I've been at work for an hour and a half but I haven't gotten anything done yet.   Time to snap out of it and get down to business.

Update 10:08 and here's the list, my plans are pretty straightforward today, I have a lot of short tasks, all of these are less than an hour, many are just 5-10 minutes.   That's probably a good thing for a tired and easily distracted day!

  • check c. request
  • put lunch in fridge
  • update d. list
  • submit s. request
  • Prepare P. update on X.
  • finish going thru top file drawer
  • T. meeting
  • Read and send out L material
  • Ask L. about class
  • Start on SS fix
  • Start on August budget
  • Take vitamins
  • quiet time
  • Check with T.M. about resource
  • fix the H. file
  • print forms for BC request - started
  • meeting minutes - started
  • Review Project G status and research
  • FSA if time
  • Start on R document

noon - yay just finished two extremely boring mundane tasks that I've been putting off.

4pm - had about an hour after lunch that was totally nonproductive because I was falling asleep lol, but I recovered . . . doesn't look like I will get through my whole todo list but I'll go as far as I can!

  • clean

Every day can be a dream day. Get up in the morning with a smile, thank God, work hard and improve yourself, bond with others, admire the gifts around you, and you'll have lived your little dream of today. Don't waste today.- huma

Show up (done) I thought yesterday was the beginning of the week, maybe because it was Aug 1, I guess, that means I get a 2nd chance!!!

Yesterday did everything on my "bookend" list, that really helped me after I prayed for willingness and it "showed up" thanks for being here.

kromer 9:30 CI

OK, today I know I have some non-lab work to do: cook, transfer utilities from roomie's name to my name, stop by bank, deacon notes budgeting, call home

In lab, I want to spend half of my day on writing and half the day on expts/data analysis. But I don't know exactly what makes sense to focus on. I'm going to go make a to-do list for the week and them check back here.

Update 10:20:

OK, I have a lot to do this week, but I'll take it step by step and get through as much as I can. I have a prioritized schedule for the week.

For today in lab, MITs are:
*2 hrs concentrated work on intro
*Filter VAD data by W/Wv (have made good progress on this)
*Doc how to do backup/restore  , start backups running on home computer(will do this in the evening, I hope won't take too long)

Next priority are:
*liver/muscle filter (have made good progress on this)
*Write up potential stuff

Lower priority:
*Start b.t. on reads
*Ask about QC

OK, the work on the intro is the big, scary task. So I'm going to go the the chatbox now and do *one* burst on this. Then I can work on something easier.
