Putmynikeson Introduction

Hello everyone, I'm Putmynikeson. I call myself this because I believe I need to do as Nike says and Just Do It, rather than procrastinate. I found this site after searching on google to see if such a thing could exist, and furthermore could help me in beating my procrastination. Ironically, it was during the most horrific series of all-nighters I have ever pulled in my life. This is saying something because throughout my life since grade school, I have pulled all nighters. Basically I put off a major essay which I had in excess of four weeks to complete and was the major allocation of marks for the unit. Needless to say, I left it to a week to go and had to quickly factor in other assignments and commitments. I completed the task within 4 days instead of 4 weeks.

Throughout the 4 days, I was sleep-deprived, depressed, anxious and considered quitting altogether. At some points my heart began to ache due to the pressure I had put myself under. This was the biggest sign to me that I needed help in changing my ways. It put everything in perspective for me, I can not be the person I want to be if I continue to procrastinate. I do not want to live this way forever, because evidently it affects every area of my life - I want to fulfill my potential and enjoy life by balancing work and rest. I want to confidently achieve success because I worked hard and more importantly because I was organised. I want to stop making excuses for myself and break this habit, perhaps even inspire others along the way. I want to start this journey, and start it now. I have little under a month to salvage my semester and study/work to pass all my units.

I am Putmynikeson and I am a chronic procrastinator.

Hi PutMyNikesOn!

Hi!  Everyone here has been really helpful and supportive to me during my first days here (I'm a newcomer as well), and the tools that exist here are downright brilliant.  They really do help a lot.

The morning check-in phone meetings are a great way to get jumpstarted, as is posting in the morning check-in thread.  (Check out http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/2292 for info on how the morning phone meetings are structured; they are currently held at 7:30 and 8:30 US Eastern Time, and at that time we schedule check-ins for later in the day.)

Your name will make me smile whenever I see it...such a happy encouragement to get movin'.  (Plus anything that invokes Nike, the goddess of victory, HAS to be good.  We need her here.)

Welcome put!
