Didn't finish everything

Didn't finish everything yesterday, but still got a lot done.  I'm behind again and will have to check in on Sunday to catch up.  Now out of town for today and tomorrow.

5 minute break

A little more focused now...

5 minute break #2

So so focus on that last session

Help! I'm stuck in Forums!

Locked myself out of chat again. No big deal 8-), really, but hello to all the chatters.

I am going to try a 25 minute focus booster session. Back in 25.

Rope ladder

Now where did I put that rope ladder? Hang on...

Helen, did you find the rope ladder yet?

Focus fail. Trying again.

Focus

I have trouble with focus. I have placed post-it notes and pens in all rooms so I can capture ideas. This might let me keep focused as I often wander off from a task to write down a new idea.

kromer 9:30 CI

Yesterday was a bit of a pro-disaster. There are a lot of reasons for that, but one reason is that I had big tasks that seemed too overwhelming to start.

So, I'm going to try to break everything down into bite-sized chunks and reward myself after each.

So far, I've answered email Qs from students.

I have a bunch of scheduled things to do: mtg 11:30, seminar 12:30, mtg 1:30-3ish, youth group 6:30-10ish

Here are my bite-sized tasks (I'm not going to prioritize, I'm just going to say that I'll get as many of these done as I can--if I can just get moving, that's enough.):
*Post old exam problems
*Go through 1 old exam + categorize problems/get ready to go over theM
*Go over 2nd old exam
*Go over 3rd old exam
*Prep review of secondary structure prediction
*Prep review of NMR/xray
*Check on expt
*Email about HPLC, GSEA
*Ask about GOslim
*Order tennis shoes
*Make dr. appt.
*Finish pres. outline
*Set up PCR
*Pour gel

OK, I'll start by going over an old exam.

Journey 9 am

Quick check in this morning, big software test this morning and I'm the data collector.  My colleague usually does this and she's on vacation so I'm nervous about doing it right!  Wish me luck, but the good news is no time to procrastinate!

After months of not doing so, I am going to start checking in here again and also using the chatbox to stay on task.

I make no excuses for my absence, and I know none are expected of me.

Thank you for being here.

Not long ago I came across a list of 13 habits to better, more centered work. I'll post a URL to that here at some point. For now, I'll just say I don't expect to do all 13 at once. So I'll start with 1, and No. 1 is: Start Early.

Today's MITs:

Project RM

Project PB

Project MW

Project T-S

MW is the one I can most afford to defer. RM is the one I'm most behind on. T-S can go quickly.

My strategy will be to start with 1.5 hours on RM. Then spend .5-1 hour on T-S. Then re-evaluate my status.

Good to CU George:)

Good luck today.

End of the day

Progress on 3 of 4 projects, and MW, the most expendible, didn'tadvance, but that's okay.

See everyone monday
