hope4meandu check-in (noon)

Hi Friends,

Love the starter chick & the message..so many times I feel if I can't do everything, it's not worth doing one thing...THANKS!!

Good to be back. Fell into a depression yesterday, but hubby helped me out of it.

It seems when I'm working, thankfully, I don't clean and visa versa. Also, I'm not so gung ho on starting my dog care business. For some reason, I feel I won't get clients and I can't get past this.

Operation repair my past is also at a slow down because my free time is limited to go visit past employers, etc. I will have a week off at the end of March, where I want to plan to go. Also, need to work on people to phone or email.

Also have so much more time, now that I'm not sending resumes every 5 seconds, YAY!! Love my new job for the moment anyway!! Also afraid to answer the phones, which I never felt before. I have to follow this stupid script & I don't like it, if it's not a call I want, I have to say I'm just the answering service, and that bothers me for some reason, so I'm tentative and scared on the phone.

To do:
-find p.t.
-grocery shopping
-how to get water
-laundry
-find out if meds have been ordered
-look for curtains on M
-checkbook (heavy procrastination)

Grateful to be out of the depression.

*hugs* If it helps, one of my best friends is a dogsitter and she often has to turn clients away because there are too many - and this is in a small village! There is HUGE demand for dog care - in the past 20 years it's become much, much less acceptable to leave a dog home alone all day every day, and people are also working longer hours.

Plus I read somewhere that pet care businesses are doing quite well in the recession, because for most people, the welfare of a dependent animal is one of the last things they'll sacrifice to save money. (Certainly true for me and my housemate!)

On starting your dog care business...

I've read how you should envision what you want for your future. Then, you must do at least a little today toward that ultimate goal.

So even though you are busy with whatever today's little emergencies are, you should devote 15/20/30 minutes at least every day toward that goal for your future. Because THAT'S what you really want for yourself, not what everyone else around you wants you to do today.

I try to do the above. It's hard, I know. But if the dog biz is really what you want, try to spend even 15 min. each day planning for it and taking a tiny step toward it. Imagine where 15 minutes, times 200 or 300 days, toward that goal will get you in a year. :)

Good luck!

Let's have a good week!

Hi all. Thanks to Vic and Lucky for the encouragement last night after I was in a downer moment. You folks are great. Smile

God bless you all, and may we all move even a tiny step forward this week!

Today's list:

  • call RF
  • put up web ads
  • drop off LAB tape
  • w-2
  • laundry
  • dishes
  • MS proposal or SA proposal

Thank you! YOU'RE great

Thank you.

Journey 10:30

Pretty thread starter Chick!

I'm back in the office today.  I exercised at home, and took it fairly easy today.  I'm still feeling tired from the weekend work.  I was scheduled to give a speech today in Toastmasters but I bailed - there was no way I could prepare it last week/weekend with all that was going on.   I rescheduled for next week, and I'm not even going to start working on it until tomorrow!

Today is catch-up day.  I'm having lunch with a friend, reading all the email that I let slide last week, and get back to work on Project V.  I did complete one big milestone on Project V last week in spite of everything so I feel good about that.

Getting a bit of a late start today, although I was in the office on time, it's taken me an hour just to get thru new email and return phone calls and stuff.   NOW I'm getting some coffee, making a todo list, and getting to work!  I'll check back, uh, probably right after lunch.

Have a productive day and enjoy the process!

UPDATE 2:45 had a nice lunch with my friend, who I haven't seen in over a month, although he works only a block down the street.  Now working on Project V for an hour.

Every time you get up and get back in the race, one more little piece of you starts to fall into place - (from "Stand" by Rascal Flatts)

I took yesterday off, which was really nice. However, it means I have a fair amount of stuff to get done:
*Make schedule for the week
*2 hrs organizing comp. work
*Run out samples on gel and take notes (working on this now)

*Email JK about HPLC, finish HPLC basic reading, email AR to bug about antibody
*Prep for recitation

*Thaw cells, make plan for expt.
*Take out trash

If I have extra time, I will finish looking and interesting genes, clean the bathroom, choose samples for comp, and/or read some papers from the AvO lab.

OK, going to start w/ gel, schedule, HPLC/emails and recitation prep.

kromer 4:25 CI

OK, got a bit of a personal-life curveball today (nothing too awful, just really frustrating). So I'm going to add to the list:
*Talk to AG
*Spend some time processing this

And, if I need to, I'll let myself do some extra boring tasks (clean bathroom) and leave off some more brainpower-intensive tasks (finish HPLC basic reading)

Update 9:50--OK, I did a bit of work (thawed cells, started planning expt, did a bit of cleaning/organizing), talked to AG, and spent a little time thinking. I made up a list of all my options (including "drop out of grad school and start a llama farm"), but decided that it makes sense to hold off a few weeks on making decisions/taking action (I'll have more info in late March, and if I try to make a prelim. decision with incomplete info I'll just drive myself crazy.)

Now, I'm going to go clean the bathroom. Back when that's done (about 10:30, probably)

Update 10:30--done cleaning bathroom, now take out trash and do some organizing.

Update 11:15--took out trash and did some organizing, now I'm going to take a shower, then do 15-20 min more work on organizing my lab/computational work, then I'll go to bed.

Show up (done) Love the starter, walk a path here as well that resembles the starter.

Things are looking up as I continue to show up. Got on phone meeting at 6:30 am, no one on, then on at 8:30. I was really good. One more tool for recovery.

Gave son ride to work, showed up on line and phone, dailiy gratitude/prayer with e-mail friend. (done) next 1. pay cc. 2. cmplete and fax papers 3. call

7 pm ck in-1. done 2. almost done faxed over 33 sheets. Enrolling younger son in cyber school. I thought it would be easier because I already did it with older son, but it wasn't. Got headache, spent so much time looking for stuff I thought I had., but I did find it. Spent weekend filling out on line stuff. Tedious, boring, time consuming. But in the end well worth it. With PA and "showing up" everyday,my HP used this pathetic little bit of willingness to help me  do it. 3. call (do tommorrow) 4. picked up son 5. store 5. sponsoree (done) Need to take care of self (walk)

ck in tommorrow.

Today is a gift from God, that is why they call it "the Present". Thanks for being here.

8:50 ci for Lark

Hi everyone. Although progress is being made here, today sill be designated a partial catch up day. I have little trouble getting little things done, and while I'm usually busy, I get so scattered that major tasks don't get the time and focus they should. If anyone is interested, perhaps we could begin a new thread regarding that?
To do:
(X)morning routine
spiritual time
put clothing where it belongs
try to finish work project A
go to my 12 step meeting
paint edges and corners in shop
