CHATBOX IS DOWN for a little while
I'm fixing something - or trying to. I ended up breaking it and I need to take it down completely. I'll post another message when it's back up.

Pro (and anyone else),
is there any reason why the chatbox wouldn't work on a Mac platform? I usually use Safari, but I've also tried FireFox, and I have never been able to get into the chatbox.... it always just says "Chat Loading...Please Wait!"

The chatbox should work fine with Safari on the Mac. Most likely the problem you're having is because I just updated the code. This can cause problems if you've been in the chatbox before and your browser has cached the old JavaScript.
To fix this you have to delete your cache files (sometimes called "temporary files" - not sure what Safari calls it), then close the browser and reopen it. This should work. Let me know if you still have problems.

CHATBOX UPDATED - you can't mess up your name anymore
I made a change in how the "away" command is implemented that makes it impossible to mess up your name anymore.
Previously, if you clicked "away" and then left the chatbox, your username would keep the string "(away)" after it the next time you logged in. Then if you clicked "away" again you'd get (away) after your name twice.
This can't happen anymore. No matter what state you're in when you leave the chatbox, you'll be present (not away) when you come back.
I also updated the software to phpFreeChat 1.2 (latest version).

Sorry about that. I wanted to clear the cache and couldn't do it because people were logged in. It should be cleared now.
I want to do a few others things, but I'll experiment on the test site and only install when it's working. I used to know this code cold, but I can't remember anything anymore!
