Agnus checking in 11:15 pm

I am tempted to check in on Sunday's page but it's stilll Saturday where I live. Hope everyone is safe tonight from the elements. Thinking of you, Lark.

I've been debating when to take my 24 hours of disconnected Sabbath and thought I would do it tomorrow since I'm already starting with church and have a family commitment after...but at 6 pm I realized I'd forgotten to buy legal paper and print out and deliver my financials to the CPA. Had no time this evening due to prior MITs, so it will have to happen tomorrow. Rats.  ...OK, now I am going to borrow GS's "Hero" idea and practice letting go of the outcome.

  \\\\    ////

(those are claw marks. I leave 'em on most things I let go of...:-)

claw marks

i know exactly how you feel. And how clever! And i like GS's idea of letting go of the outcome, too.

claw marks. yeah.

Convalalria, Sunday 7.35am

Saturday proved to be a loss.  Too much surfing and eating.
Feel hopless and helpless in the face of my addiction.

A new day dawns.
Have had breakfast and coffee.

Now I choose to:

  • walk doggy and self
  • 1 hour household tasks
  • check in when done and I intend to do this!!

ONWARDS!!

Convalaria -- the beginning is now

Hi Convalaria,

The beginning is now.  Good for you for making a fresh start!

Falcon

Thank you Falcon! We can have lots of new starts and thank HP for that.

Having a hard time. Want to tune out with Bubbles and Spider Solitaire.
Have done:

  • 30 minutes of genenral household tasks
  • taken the doggy for a run and some training

What is next????

  • 30 minutes of household paper work (that will make the 1 hour I planned
  • and???
  • check in if I get stuck

OK  9.30am

  • medicate
  • go shopping for food
  • cook soup
  • cook lamb rendang

Inertia

I'm trying to do something to overcome my inertia. I've got lots of stuff I COULD do today, so I supposed I should break it down:

  • Empty Dishwasher
  • Load DW and wipe down counters
  • Make breakfast
  • Put in one load of laundry
  • Clean the dog run
  • Clean bathroom
That should keep me busy. What I'm trying to avoid today:
  • Our remodel project is back to the drawing board after city rejected permit
  • Pleasing my wife (she wants the remodel done yesterday)
  • Pleasing my boss (she's actually happy with me but I never feel good enough)
  • My son is injured and cant do much else but watch TV. (Im afraid Ill end up sitting right next to him watching TV all day)
  • The cats have started peeing in the house again, it's very depressing and I'm not sure what to do about it.
  • The bathroom stinks and it's not the cats fault
  • The house is generally a mess
What I'm grateful for today:
  • My wife's feet are still in the house (I'm still married)
  • I have a son and he's generally healthy
  • I have a house and a job
  • Most importantly I have recovery (and am sober today by the grace of god)
So I'm going to put on my headset, call a program friend, and talk about my fears while I do the dishes. Thanks everyone for helping me get going.

Inertia is a bummer!

Hi seattlesa,

Inertia is crummy, isn't it?  Frown But it sounds like you have a great plan for moving through it -- small steps, connection & support, and recognizing both your fears and the blessings in your life.

Hope you'll check in and let us know how it goes!

GeorgeSmiley 9:50 AM; 10:40 PM

Well, I don't know that I'll be checking in all that regularly today. My biggest task right now is to go through some files in the basement that Mrs. GS wants to to collect and aggregate. That certainly is  a task I could be tempted to put off...

Beyond that... laundry; take No. 2 son to a theater audition that he doesn't want to go to (but his mother does--and she's out of town).

Rain canceled his soccer game today.

And tonight, sing at a community coffeehouse.... :-)

Have a happy weekend, all...

UPDATE  10:40 PM

Pleased to  report that

1) Coffeehouse went well

2) I've gotten this week's laundry done

3) I've done a lot to get rid of boxes of paper and other stuff that have been sitting around all year in my home office!!!! Thanks for Rainy Days!

Lark at 10:38am

Hi everyone. Lots of rain coming this way. Some carryovers from yesterday, and from the week. Ick. There's one dreaded task for work which is drawing near: Creep, creep, creep. There's also another task, while smaller, is pretty nasty. In the meantime all the normal things need to be done. Good luck everyone.
Today:
morning routine
spiritual (not me) time
do business with client A
finish project B
clean workshop in prep for dreaded task
call M about job
do load of laundry
use dust mop on floor
kitty box
kitty food
food for me
call client C
check in later

Journey 9:20

Good morning!  I've been up for an hour, just relaxing.  We stayed up late last night watching the hurricane coverage.  Scary.   You know you're old when you stay up late watching the weather channel.

So, time to get my myriad bags out of the car, and make a grocery list.  First, I need to text my son and see if they are coming over tonight, and then text my friend Mike and see if his family in TX are ok.

Back here tenish with the online grocery ad, making my list.

Weather and obituaries

When I was a bit younger I never consulted the weather. Now the weather map and obituary pages are the first I turn to when I pick up a newspaper. A small, local radio station has the complete weather and local obits at six o'clock every afternoon. The locals often stop by my shop to drink coffee, visit, and listen to the radio then. Then they're off!
When Hurricane Ivan swung way North a few years ago, it caused alot of damage aeound here. I was lucky, but this week's plans are contingent on the weather map. I'm in a low valley and fear flooding.

Falcon Saturday CI

Seeing that clean sudsy piggy first thing in the morning made me smile!  Laughing

Lots of stuff to do this weekend.  Next up, get ready for this afternoon before going to class:

  • Eat breakfast
  • Check library book list
  • Print book suggestions from friend
  • Round up library books
  • Look up directions from class to farmer's market
  • Pack stuff for after class
  • Get dressed/ready for class

Will check in later. . .

Falcon Saturday p.m.

Hi all,

Right now my life is without two things that I'm longing for. . . a sweetheart, and a community.  I have good friends and contacts, so I'm not without people in my life, but those two types of contact have been missing from my life for too long.

I'm taking steps to change those things (personal ads for dates, and seeking to move so I'll have more time & be in an area where I can meet more like-minded people.)  But at the moment I'm feeling a lot of longing in a real primitive, caveperson way (I want my mate and I want my tribe!)

I've got a boatload of stuff to do this weekend.  But since I drove home from class feeling like a bundle of emotion, the top priority is a little nurturing.  Next up: have a good cry while cooking some good food, and watch a comforting DVD while I eat.  Then I can be up & at 'em again, and I'll check back in.

Falcon Saturday 3:00

Nothing like a little physical & mental comfort food -- pasta and an episode of Columbo.  Wink

Feeling much better.  Next up: round up books and go to library.

Falcon Saturday eve.

Hi pro amigos,

I'm back from the libary with an armload of books, and of course I want to nestle in and read all of them right now (no problem with procrastinating on reading good books!)

I'm tuckered, so next up are some low-energy, sitting-down type tasks:

  • Prep calendar
  • Sync ipod
  • Maybe check rental site?

Recycler CI 5:05am EST

Hi Pro Buddies!

Easing into the day here. I'm going to putter around, and see what I can get into ;)

This morning: straighten condo, put away clothes, before going on bike ride, before buying provisions for the week. I may update my CI in a little while! :)

5:50am. Folding & putting away clean clothes. Started a new load in the clothes washer. How did all these shoes get all over the floor?!!! Uh, oh yeah, that was me. lol. ((puts shoes away)) lol. Next: Fix gym bags for next week :)

Have a great day! :)

Recycler

Thank you, gals & guys, for being here! :)

Shoes on floor

Hi Recycler,

That's one thing I've noticed about being single. . . there are never arguments about who left the milk out on the counter, or who forgot to take the trash out, or whose turn it is to scoop the kitty litter.  And the so & so who left their shoes all over the place always turns out to be me!   Wink

Falcon

yep, that's my story, too lol ;)

Hi Falcon!
