spammers knocking but not getting in

We had a lot of nasty spammers trying to get into the site this week. I probably banned half a dozen of them.

I let in several new members, too.

I can't remember now who urged me to start approving memberships - Lark, I think. Good call! We'd be flooded with trash if I hadn't done that. It's tedious to assess new membership requests, but deleting the garbage takes even longer and it's so unpleasant.

tons of spam registrations lately - SPAMMERS BE GONE!!!!

There have been tons of spam registrations lately. I don't let them in, and it just creates work for me because I have to delete them.

Spammers - please stop wasting both of our time. I'm not going to let you in, so go bother some other site.

Maddening. I really detest these "people". Are they people, or blood-sucking monsters?

Thanks pro!

Thanks for all your work in keeping spammers out, and all the other things you do for the site.

Hope they back off soon!

spammer registrations continue

The spam registrations are continuing. Out of a dozen registrations in the last two days, two were real and the rest were spam. I wish they'd stop. Frown

spammers again - new members must be approved

The spammers have a new toy that lets them get around the captcha, so I had to start manually screening memberships again to keep them from trashing the site. It is a giant PITA for me to have to do this, and it creates a delay for legitimate members. But cleaning up the crap the spammers leave takes even more time, so this is necessary.

If I miss my guess and let a spammer in by accident, please notify me in email immediately - with either a link to the spam or the spammer's username. I'll ban the spammer and delete the spam as soon as I'm notified.

Spammers: No one here wants your junk. Go away.

Thanks Pro!

Really appreciate your service w/website.  It sounds like a lot of upkeep re: spammers.

Thanks, pro and a friendly reminder...

...to all my fellow PA'ers that, apart from all the many hours that pro donates to keeping us tuned up and the spam turned out, there are actual costs to maintaining this website.  PA has helped save my job and my sanity - defintely cost-effective! So from gratitude I contribute and invite you to consider it too. Details are at http://procrastinators-anonymous.org/node/292 - thanks for being here!

thanks, Agnus

Thanks for posting this, Agnus. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated - even small ones. If everyone contributed just a bit, it would cover the costs of the site.

lot of spammers trying to get in

A lot of spammers have been trying to get in here. It's a pain going through the account requests to pick out the legitimate ones.
