I'm new and need help

Hi
My name is Janet and I'm new to this web site and very grateful to find it.  I am a cronic procrastinator.  I would like to work the steps with someone, anyone who know's and practices the 12 steps in daily life. I would also like to make contact with someone, by telephone if that is possable.  I really need to stop and I can not by myself.  My personal email is jrutterson@shaw.ca  I'm from Canada. If you do not have a phone plan that covers canada, if you are Ok to leave your teliphone number, I'll call you. I've been in and out of 12 steps most of my life but have never been able to stop this procrastining.

Thank you
Janet

Thank you
Janet

Need help, too

Hi Janet and hi to all here (I have not posted in a long time!),

Your posting is very timely!  I really need an online buddy - or more likely the many buddies in this community - to help me really DO SOMETHING about my chronic procrastination.  I joined this site about 3 months ago and participated in a couple of the Wed. AM conference calls before they seemed to fizzle out (the last time I called no one else was there!) and then I posted for a couple of weeks in the daily Check-In (CI), which I found very helpful at first, but then noticed I was usually only posting my "To Do" list, then failing to post what I actually did, and soon I was not even doing many of the things on my "To Do" list (which was pretty short!) and I just felt even more like a failure.  Like you, I think I need to try a couple of things - a renewed commitment to use the daily CI regardless of whether anyone posts to ask me how I'm doing, but ideally with some follow-up and accountability from someone here asking if I made any progress on my list, and an effort to work the 12 Steps even though I have never done a 12-step program before - it can't hurt, and it may help.

So tomorrow I plan to use the CI again and hope you will, too so we can encourage each other on this site and have the community support us, as well.

amen!

that's the idea, rec!

I've heard that for people who quit smoking, they almost always fail the first time, but if they keep trying, after several attempts they succeed.

We celebrate small victories here.  Even posting your list is a step.  And i would encourage you to do it, even if you dont get anything done and have to post the same list tomorrow.  At least *I* need that kind of freedom, because that sometimes happens to me.

So, welcome to the club.  Or should i say, welcome back to your Nth attempt to do something about your procrastination.

Hi J!

i haven't worked the steps, but am a fellow sufferrer and hopefully recoverer of procrastination.  I'll email you.  You can also click on 'my account' near the top left and click on 'contact' (or is it 'edit') and allow people to contact you that way.
